GSA provides funding for graduate student groups to hold a range of activities and events, from work in progress seminars to soccer matches! Annual funding allocations are determined by the number of University of Melbourne graduate students who are members of the Group, the number of GSA subscribers who are members of the Group and the number of postgraduates who may attend the events being held by the Group/s.

The following scale applies to Groups where 30% of their memberships are GSA subscribers:

7-29 $750
30 – 99   $900
100-199 $1050
200-499  $1200
500 or more $1500

(Claims by Group/s for additional funding support for events where more than 200 postgraduates will attend (advanced ticket allocations) or did attend will be considered by the GSA Executive.)

Unless there are special circumstances, no more than one-third of the annual allocation will be provided in one round.

Round 1 1st May--31st August
Round 2 1st September-31st December

Commencing 1 January 2008, the three annual funding rounds shall be as follows:

  • Round 1 will cover Group events held between the start of the University calendar year—1 May.
  • Round 2 will cover Group events held between 1 May--31 August.
  • Round 3 will cover Group events held between 1 September—the end of the University calendar year
