24-Hour Access with your Student Swipe Card

All Melbourne University Graduate students (including diploma and masters   students) can access the Graduate Centre 24 hours per day using their student ID card as a swipe card. The building is open from 7.30am - 6.20pm Monday to Friday, so you don't need to use your ID card during those times.

Inductions

Inductions to the Graduate Centre are available depending on demand. An   induction takes about half an hour and provides a tour of the building's   facilities and meeting rooms. 

Use of your student card

Student ID cards are used as swipe cards to access the Graduate Centre before   7.30am and after 6.20pm on weekdays and anytime on weekends and public holidays.   Swipe cards don't open all external doors, only the three main doors facing   Grattan St and the four back doors on the covered way and veranda. To use your   student ID card to gain entry to the building, swipe downwards in the card   reader located close to door, with the black magnetic strip facing to the right.   If the reader makes two short beeps and shows a green light this means the door   has been unlocked for a few seconds. Push or pull the door open. If an external   door remains open for longer than 30 seconds after hours, an alarm is triggered   and University Security alerted. To prevent this, and for the safety of others   inside, ensure doors are properly closed behind you.

24 hour access rules

You must not lend your student ID card to anyone else or let other people into   any university building. If your student ID card is lost or stolen you must   notify Student Administration, the Baillieu library, or campus security   immediately. Campus Security are located at Gate 4 on Swanston Street (opposite   the tram stop) and can be contacted on 8344 4674. If your student ID card does   not give you access you need to contact Access Control at 215 Grattan St.,   Carlton, during business hours. If the situation is outside of business hours   and urgent you can contact University Security on 8344 4674.   

24 hour printing

GSA's Printroom is open between 9.30am - 5pm on Mondays and 10am - 5pm Tuesdays   to Fridays. However, you can access black-and-white 24-hour printing in the GPPC  (room 23) using your student ID card and a UNICARD.
